A charming little piece, packed with
local interest tidbits

A wonderful intergenerational happening as part of the community-involved development of the South Lawn Terrace performance.  Children from St Michael's CofE Primary Academy sharing history with the Friends of Heavitree Health Centre's Memory Cafe

Now, this is what it's all about!

Residents Tea Party held at St Michael's in 2016 to present the research projects of the after school club and the Beavers of the 2nd Exeter Scout Group.  Really lovely inter-generational attendance.  Project Lead, Linny Hughes was on hand to collect further reminiscence in the Memory Corner.
Meet the Team

We're thrilled to say that we had a wonderful community collaboration for this project. Our huge thanks go to:-

  • St Michael's CoE Primary Academy for running an after-school club to explore the Victorian Origins of the street.
  • Beavers of the 2nd Exeter Scout Group for participating as part of their Community Badge.
  • Heavitree Local History Society and Interwoven volunteers for researching and preparing the historical information for both clubs.
  • Friends of Heavitree Health Centre for theming one of their Memory Cafés around the project and inviting children from the school to present their research.
  • Huge thanks also go to Exeter City Council who this year have awarded the partnership an Arts Project grant.

Culminating in a wonderful summertime, family-fun show!

"Lovely storytelling intermingled with history and poetry. The poetry in particular was lovely and the performer was great x."

"Excellently researched and performed. Roll on the next Squilometres".

"A beautiful poetic walk through time. So lovely to be invited to stop and and stare at our extraordinary surroundings"

"Very well presented and enjoyable. Speaker spoke very clearly and heard every word. She held my interest all the time - time flew so quickly, shame it had to end. Loved the poem - as I sometimes do write poetry myself. Never knew we had a brick works. Look forward to the next presentation." - SF

"I enjoyed it, interesting how many shops there were here in the past NL (age 10)."

"What a lovely event. This should definitely be opened up for school trips also. I grew up in Heavitree and there was so much that I learnt. Thank you so so much."

"Brilliant! Really enjoyed the walk and learnt a lot about the history of South Lawn Terrace. Thank you very much. Look forward to the next one ...."

"Really lovely afternoon event. Great actress [here here!] - very charming. Lots of fab information. Look forward to the next one."
